Lega holds protest in Florence over security and urban decay
Members of the Lega party held a demonstration in the San Jacopino district of Florence to protest declining public security and urban decay. Local party leaders, including Tiziana Nisini, Guglielmo Mossuto, and Federico Bussolin, expressed concerns that residents are living in fear due to recent violent clashes between groups in the area.
The party criticized the local administration, arguing that Palazzo Vecchio has failed to take concrete action despite reports from a local committee. Specific demands and grievances included the need for better street lighting and cleanliness in Via Galliano, as well as the implementation of ordinances to ban the sale of takeaway alcohol in the evenings.
Additionally, the demonstration highlighted issues regarding illegal property occupations, specifically citing an INPS building on Via Toselli where 22 units have reportedly been occupied for years. The party also referenced the disappearance of a child near the former Hotel Astor as a symbol of the area's lack of safety.
