Italy launches various regional sports and community initiatives

Various regional and national sports and community initiatives are being launched across Italy. In professional football, Lega Serie A and Fondazione Roma have announced the second edition of the “Fondazione Roma – Il Valore del Gioco” award. This initiative aims to recognize Serie A clubs that demonstrate exceptional sports ethics, respect for rules, and positive conduct among players, management, and fans during the 2026/2027 season.

Local community developments include the inauguration of the “Villaggio dell’Accoglienza” in Taranto to boost tourism via the Mediterranean Games, and a major 11-million-euro urban regeneration project in Sant’Elia to create a new urban beach and sports area.
