Lega Volley Femminile adopts social media streaming for Serie A1
The Italian women's volleyball Serie A1 is implementing a new digital broadcasting strategy to reach younger audiences. Through Spike Media, a company majority-owned by the Lega Volley Femminile (LVF), the league will stream three matches per round on its official YouTube channel.
In a novel approach, matches will also be broadcast directly via the Instagram profiles of selected star players, such as Paola Egonu and Gabi Guimarães. This move leverages the significant social media following of individual athletes, which often exceeds that of their respective clubs.
For the 2026/2027 season, broadcasting rights for various leagues include coverage on DAZN, RAI, and Sky Sport. While DAZN and RAI will handle specific match rotations for the Superlega and A1, the LVF's YouTube and social media initiative aims to provide free, mobile-accessible content to expand the sport's digital footprint.
