Legacoop President highlights cooperative model's role in redistributing value

Simone Gamberini, the national president of Legacoop, highlighted the role of the cooperative model as a vital economic infrastructure for Italy during the ‘La Lombardia di Coop’ event in Milan.

Gamberini emphasized that cooperatives help rebalance society by redistributing added value, particularly within the agri-food and food supply chains. He noted that this model fosters innovation while maintaining social cohesion and supporting local territories, benefiting everyone from small agricultural producers to consumers.

Regarding the Lombardy region, Gamberini identified it as a cornerstone of the Italian cooperative system. He stated that approximately one-third of Lombardy's citizens are members of a cooperative, reflecting the model's significant social and economic integration in the area.
