Legal action in Spain for police knife attack and fatal shooting in Argentina
In Spain, prosecutors and state lawyers are seeking significant prison sentences for a man who attacked a National Police officer with a knife in Santander. The Public Prosecutor's Office is requesting five years and ten months for aggravated assault and illegal possession of weapons, citing drug addiction as a mitigating factor. However, the State Prosecution is seeking twelve and a half years, arguing the incident constituted attempted homicide. The attack occurred in February when the suspect emerged from bushes to confront officers during a call regarding a domestic dispute.
In Argentina, a 20-year-old man, Brian Ariel Giupponi, was shot and killed in an abandoned house in the western zone of Rosario. Giupponi had reportedly received death threats prior to the incident. He was shot at least five times, with a fatal wound to the abdomen. An acquaintance accompanying him was wounded in the foot but managed to escape. Police have detained three suspects, aged between 20 and 23, following witness descriptions of the attackers and their vehicle.
