Legal actions in Côte d’Ivoire and Tunisia involve prominent lawyers

In Côte d’Ivoire, Prosecutor Koné Braman has issued an arrest warrant for Habiba Touré, a lawyer and spokesperson for former President Laurent Gbagbo. Touré, a member of the PPA-CI party, is accused of involvement in post-election violence during the October 2025 period. The prosecutor stated that the legal proceedings target those implicated in events that resulted in dozens of deaths during protests against Alassane Ouattara’s candidacy. Touré is believed to be currently in Europe.

Separately, in Tunisia, an investigating judge at the Economic and Financial Judicial Pole has issued a warrant for lawyer Ghazi Mrabet. The legal action follows an investigation into a large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering case. Authorities previously seized over 8 kilograms of cocaine, 40 cannabis blocks, and approximately 400,000 dinars. The investigation has expanded to include several other suspects, including a convicted drug trafficker and a professional football player.
