Legal actions taken against suspects in Colombia and Guatemala
In Colombia, prosecutors have charged Julianis Paola Altamar Medina with prison escape. Altamar Medina, the partner of Aldair Montenegro (alias ‘Gomelo’), is accused of violating her house arrest terms in Barranquilla. Authorities reported that she was found in public despite being under home detention, and Inpec officials noted her absence during several verification visits. Altamar Medina, who is currently serving time for conspiracy and illegal weapons possession, did not accept the charges. Her defense argued that her movements were justified for childcare and visiting her partner.
In Guatemala, authorities conducted a raid on a building in Zone 1 of Guatemala City targeting Omar Julián Espino Nájera. Espino Nájera, a former military member, is under investigation for the physical assault of an elevator operator in late September. The operation, involving the National Civil Police and the Public Ministry, aims to collect evidence and potentially apprehend the suspect, who faces charges related to violence against women.
