Balkan police conduct major operations against organized crime and drug trafficking

Law enforcement agencies across the Balkans have conducted several significant operations targeting organized crime, drug trafficking, and property theft.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a major police operation codenamed ‘Catering’ resulted in the arrest of multiple individuals in Sarajevo and the Central Bosnia Canton. Authorities seized over 1.4 kilograms of drugs, nine pistols, ammunition, and luxury vehicles including a Mercedes G and an Audi Q8. The investigation targets drug trafficking, extortion, and public endangerment.

In Montenegro, police in Podgorica processed four individuals for various property crimes, including vehicle theft, credit card fraud, and the theft of expensive knives. In Nikšić, an incident involving a vehicle collision and the discharge of a starter pistol led to several criminal charges for violent behavior. Additionally, a suspect in Ulcinj remains in custody for the murder of his common-law wife.

In Serbia, police in Obrenovac dismantled a local drug distribution network, arresting three individuals and seizing marijuana and cash. In Prijepolje, a suspect is facing charges for allegedly causing a forest fire that threatened valuable timberland. Meanwhile, in Croatia, police in Zadar have issued warnings to tourists regarding an increase in pickpocketing incidents during the summer season.
