Honduras issues arrest warrants for former Congress President Luis Redondo

Honduran authorities have issued arrest warrants for former National Congress President Luis Redondo and former National Graphics Enterprise (ENAG) director Edis Antonio Moncada. The judicial orders follow a fiscal requirement targeting 14 individuals, including former officials and deputies, linked to the former Permanent Commission of the Legislative Power.

The investigation centers on decisions made by the Permanent Commission during the political and electoral crisis following the November 2025 general elections. Specifically, authorities are examining a decree that ordered a vote recount, questioning whether the commission exceeded its constitutional authority and encroached upon the powers of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Luis Redondo faces charges including unlawful disturbance of institutions, usurpation of functions, and multiple counts of violating official duties. Edis Antonio Moncada is accused of three counts of violating official duties. Security Vice Minister Rommel Martínez confirmed that police are working to execute the warrants, while reports indicate Redondo may have traveled through El Salvador, Panama, and Spain.

The Supreme Court of Justice has scheduled a hearing for the accused for October 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The proceedings are currently being held under secrecy at the request of the Public Ministry.
