Legal cases involve defamation in Andorra and embezzlement in Spain
In Andorra, a woman is facing trial for aggravated defamation with publicity. The case stems from a 2018 incident involving a sexual assault allegation against a firefighter, which was ultimately dismissed. Following the dismissal, the accused allegedly published content on social media and in local media outlets that falsely linked the firefighter to cocaine use and domestic violence. The prosecution is seeking a three-month prison sentence and a 5,000 euro fine.
In Spain, a former temporary worker for the Vilajuïga City Council has accepted a two-year prison sentence for embezzlement. The individual admitted to duplicating payroll entries between August 2022 and June 2023 to divert over 4,000 euros into a personal account, including one instance involving her own salary. Due to the full repayment of the funds, the court applied a mitigating factor for damage reparation. In addition to the prison sentence, she has been disqualified from holding public office for five years.
