Legal crises reported in Spain and Mexico involving criminal charges and police misconduct

In Spain, former Miss Spain Verónica Hidalgo has spoken publicly about the legal crisis involving her husband, Juan Andrés González. González was detained on March 24 and remains in preventive prison while investigations continue. He faces accusations of criminal organization, money laundering, and drug trafficking, with allegations that his advertising and marketing firm received funds from marijuana and hashish trafficking.

Hidalgo described the emotional impact of the police raid on their home during dinner and the subsequent shock of the investigation. She stated that she remains supportive of her husband and maintains his innocence.

In Mexico, lawyer Herminia Báez Vázquez has accused the Specialized Unit in Combating Kidnapping (UECS) of the Veracruz State Attorney General's Office of conducting an illegal search at her home. Báez Vázquez claims that on September 11, officers entered her residence without showing a warrant, physically assaulted her, and detained her on charges of kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle.

She further alleged that her children were intimidated during the raid, personal belongings and valuables were stolen, and police attempted to coerce her into signing a confession regarding drug possession.
