Legal investigations proceed in Paraguay and Chile

In Paraguay, prosecutors are investigating six witnesses for potential perjury in the trial of former senator Hernán Rivas. In Chile, the investigation into the ‘Belarusian plot’ involving former minister Ángela Vivanco is entering its final stages. The case examines alleged bribes paid by lawyers to Vivanco to favor the Consorcio Belaz Movitec (CBM). A judge granted a 25-day extension for the investigation, despite requests from prosecutors for 120 days. Several key tasks remain pending, including the analysis of bank secrecy waivers and expert reports regarding the defendants' locations.
