The Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Crimes (CRIEF) in Guinea has resumed hearings involving several former high-ranking officials from the Alpha Condé administration.
Damantang Albert Camara, a former minister, is set to appear in court regarding allegations of misappropriating public funds totaling approximately 222 billion Guinean francs from the Ministry of Technical Education and 17.3 billion Guinean francs from the Ministry of Security. Camara has pleaded not guilty.
Other major cases include the appeal of Dr. Mohamed Diané, a former Defense Minister facing charges of money laundering and embezzlement involving an estimated 511 billion Guinean francs. Additionally, the court is awaiting a verdict for Mohamed Lamine Bangoura, former president of the Constitutional Court, concerning the management of institutional subsidies.
In Algeria, the trial of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has also commenced at the Sidi M’Hamed economic and financial pole. Fourteen defendants, including three former FAF presidents, are facing charges of abuse of office, illegal contract awards, and the misappropriation of public funds.
