Córdoba officials face trial in Valentino Correas case
A judge in Córdoba has ordered ten individuals to face trial in connection with the Valentino Blas Correas case. The investigation focuses on irregularities occurring during and after the fatal shooting of the young man on August 6, 2020.
Among those facing trial is the former Minister of Security, Alfonso Mosquera, who is accused of offering or presenting bribes. Also implicated is former police commissioner Gonzalo Cumplido, accused of accepting bribes. The prosecution alleges that Mosquera offered advantages to Cumplido, and that Lucas Mezzano acted as a secondary accomplice by providing a vehicle used by the commissioner.
Additionally, several police officers face charges of abuse of authority. The prosecution contends that these officers failed to act according to their duty to protect the victim's life when his vehicle was intercepted. The case will be heard by the 10th Criminal Chamber of Córdoba.
