Legal proceedings begin for Ischia abuse suspects and Vibo Valentia mafia clan

In Ischia, three young men—G. V., A. B., and L. D. O.—faced a validation hearing regarding charges of torture, sexual violence, and the distribution of sexually explicit images. While the suspects remained silent during the proceedings, they issued apologies to the victim and her family. Defense attorneys are seeking house arrest or specialized clinical placement for L. D. O. due to health conditions deemed incompatible with prison detention.

Separately, the trial for the La Rosa di Tropea clan has commenced in Vibo Valentia following the ‘Call Me’ anti-mafia operation. The investigation revealed the clan’s ability to direct criminal activities from within various Italian prisons using mobile devices. The trial involves charges of mafia association, aggravated extortion, and fraudulent transfer of assets. The court has scheduled the start of the evidentiary phase for December 14, following a dispute over the acquisition of intercepted communications.
