Legal proceedings continue for defendants in Argentina and Mexico

In Argentina, Nelson Emiliano Lagos will remain in preventive detention following a legal hearing regarding the escape from the Salta General Jail on April 4. While a judge dismissed one charge of concealment due to his family ties to Jonatan Jordan Peloc, Lagos remains detained for resistance to authority and other charges of concealment. The investigation into the escape involves seven individuals, including Peloc, who faces charges of evasion and threats with weapons.

In Mexico, former Federal Police officer Luis Cárdenas Palomino will continue to be held in preventive detention. He is facing criminal proceedings related to the ‘Fast and Furious’ (Rápido y Furioso) operation conducted between 2009 and 2011. The case involves the alleged introduction of firearms from the United States into Mexico, which were intended to track criminal organizations but were subsequently used in various crimes. Cárdenas Palomino is accused of involvement in the reception and distribution of these weapons.
