Legal proceedings in Ouagadougou and Conakry involve theft and assault convictions

In Ouagadougou, three young men appeared before the Ouaga I High Court on September 18, 2026, facing charges of organized theft. The defendants, aged 20 and 21, admitted to targeting the same shop on three separate occasions during July 2026. The stolen goods included 23 cartons of cylinders, three cartons of water pumps, and three cartons of starters.

In Conakry, the Dixinn Court of First Instance sentenced Joseph Désiré, also known as Jean Lamah, to six months in prison on September 22, 2026. Désiré was convicted of voluntary assault and criminal association after attacking Abdoul Goudouss Sow with a machete. The attack, which caused neck injuries, was reportedly motivated by a prior dispute. Although the prosecution sought a one-year sentence, the judge issued a six-month term.
