Legal proceedings in separate assault and hit-and-run cases
In Ireland, a man in his 20s facing charges of strangulation and assault has been granted bail at Ballyshannon District Court. The accused is charged under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act for allegedly intentionally or recklessly strangling and suffocating a woman. Judge Éiteáin Cunningham granted bail under strict conditions after the man's mother was approved as an independent surety, following the settlement of an outstanding TV licence fine.
In Guam, Danielle Marie Baza, 37, has been ordered to held on $250,000 cash bail following an alleged hit-and-run in Sinajana. Baza faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and family violence. Prosecutors allege she struck a man with her vehicle and fled the scene. While the defense argued that Baza's actions after the collision indicated a lack of intent to kill, Magistrate Judge Sean Brown found probable cause for the charges, noting that hitting a person with a vehicle can demonstrate indifference to human life.
