Legal proceedings initiated against PKK suspect and German MP

In Austria, a trial has commenced at the Feldkirch Regional Court against a man accused of being a member of the PKK terrorist organization for 17 years. Prosecutors allege the defendant recruited members and fighters, as well as donors, for the group. He is accused of collecting at least 100,000 euros in Vorarlberg and Russia to fund the organization. Additionally, he is accused of using social media to promote a positive image of the PKK. Under Austrian law, membership in a terrorist organization carries a potential sentence of up to ten years.

In Germany, prosecutors have launched an investigation into Die Linke member of parliament Ferat Koçak on suspicion of document forgery. The investigation stems from an incident where an individual attempted to enter a Bundestag building using a forged guest pass. Authorities believe Koçak produced the document and provided it to a third party. Koçak reportedly described the incident as a ‘social media project’ involving a planned role swap. Forgery under the German criminal code carries a potential prison sentence of up to five years.
