Legal proceedings initiated in sexual assault cases in Kenya and Ireland

In Kenya, a 55-year-old man appeared before the Garissa Law Courts facing two counts of defilement involving a 13-year-old boy. The incidents allegedly occurred in late August 2026 in Rahole village, Balambala. The prosecution stated that the boy's mother discovered the accused performing an indecent act on her son while the child was unconscious. Although the accused reportedly admitted to the offense during police questioning, he denied the charges in court. The prosecution has opposed bail, citing concerns that the accused may interfere with witnesses.

In Ireland, a man in his 60s appeared at Letterkenny District Court facing eight counts of sexual assault occurring between 2019 and 2022 in County Donegal. The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the case be dealt with on indictment in the Circuit Court. The accused was granted bail on the condition that he signs on at a Garda station twice weekly, remains contactable by phone, and has no contact with any involved persons.
