Legal professional harassment and police authority threats reported
In Chimbote, lawyer Rocío Acosta Saavedra has filed a formal complaint with the National Police Inspectorate following an incident of alleged verbal abuse and intimidation. Acosta Saavedra claims that while visiting a detained client on August 20, the head of the Judicial Police, Sub-officer Domingo Valencia Rodríguez, behaved in a hostile and derogatory manner, ordering her to leave the premises. The lawyer has also sought intervention from the Santa Bar Association, though she expressed dissatisfaction with their initial response.
In Playas de Rosarito, Jorge Eduardo Montero, director of the Baja California police academy, commented on a violent altercation involving supporters of the Patrulla Espiritual. On the night of August 30, 2026, a group of over 50 individuals gathered outside a municipal command post, resulting in an injury to communicator Alberto Madero. Montero characterized the incident as a form of pressure against authority, noting that while officers withdrew to avoid direct confrontation and ensure safety, the actions constituted a threat to police authority.
