Legal rulings impact autism aid in Spain and accident justice in Dominican Republic

In Spain, the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community issued a landmark ruling regarding dependency benefits for a child with severe autism. After a four-year legal battle, the court increased the child's dependency grade and monthly aid from approximately 200 euros to 2,350 euros, granting access to a personal assistant. The family had previously been forced to cover high costs for therapeutic assistance out of pocket.

In a separate incident in the Dominican Republic, the family of an 11-year-old girl who died after falling from a mechanical ride in Hato Mayor has expressed indignation over a court decision. The judge imposed a 1 million Dominican peso economic guarantee and a travel ban on businessman Simón María Estévez Ramos, linked to the amusement park. The family is calling on President Luis Abinader and judicial authorities to ensure a more severe sanction to prevent similar tragedies.
