Algeria and Senegal courts issue verdicts in influencer and artist legal cases

In Algeria, the Boufarik court has sentenced influencer Anouar Sayoud to two years in prison, including one year suspended, and a fine of 200,000 DA. The verdict follows the viral spread of a video in which Sayoud used discriminatory and insulting language toward an eight-year-old girl regarding her clothing. Sayoud claimed his intention was to provide parental advice and apologized for his choice of words, but was convicted of discrimination and violating the child's privacy.

In Senegal, the Rufisque criminal court is processing a drug-related case involving artist Arona Benga (Amadou Bia Sow). Benga admitted to drug consumption but maintained he is merely a user and not involved in trafficking. The prosecution has requested a one-year firm prison sentence for Benga, with a final court decision expected on September 15.
