Legal status of real-money online casinos in the US as of 2026
As of 2026, eight United States states have legalized regulated real-money online casino gaming. The states with legalized frameworks include Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Maine.
Currently, seven of these states have operational markets. While Maine has authorized online casino gaming through a tribal-led framework, its consumer-facing platforms are still awaiting launch. Nevada maintains a different regulatory model, permitting real-money online poker but prohibiting full-scale online casino games such as blackjack and digital slots.
