Legal updates for Tatiana Marset and Verónica Sabaj
In Bolivia, the Public Ministry has requested the revocation of Tatiana Marset's house arrest, seeking her return to preventive detention. Santa Cruz prosecutor Alberto Zeballos stated the request follows reports that Marset may have breached her bail conditions, specifically regarding established curfew hours. The prosecution is acting on reports from police escorts regarding her alleged presence at an exhibition and a livestock auction outside permitted times. Marset has denied these allegations via social media, claiming her brief appearance at the Expocruz event was due to an invitation related to a sale.
In Chile, the Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago has modified the precautionary measures for former minister Verónica Sabaj. Her previous total house arrest has been reduced to nighttime house arrest, a change requested by her defense and agreed upon by the prosecution. Sabaj is under investigation in the ‘Caso Audio’ involving messages exchanged with lawyer Luis Hermosilla. Her defense characterized the communications as “imprudent” but maintains they do not constitute the crimes she is accused of, noting her role as the sole provider for her household.
