Legambiente awards five Italian parks for sustainability

Legambiente has announced the winners of its ‘Parchi Emissioni Zero’ (Zero Emissions Parks) award during the closing of the Festambiente eco-festival in Maremma. The award recognizes Italian protected areas that demonstrate exemplary sustainability and contribute to the country’s path toward climate neutrality.

Five protected areas across coastal and Apennine regions were honored for their commitment to green practices, including sustainable forest management, green procurement, agroecology, and soft mobility. The winners include the Cinque Terre National Park, the Vesuvio National Park, the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park, and the Sassi di Roccamalatina Regional Park.

Legambiente President Stefano Ciafani noted that these areas are already achieving extraordinary results despite political difficulties and recent funding cuts.
