Legambiente highlights Montieco Srl's circular economy efforts

Legambiente has highlighted Montieco Srl, a long-standing concessionaire of the National Consortium of Used Mineral Oils (Conou) in Anzola dell’Emilia, as part of its “I Cantieri della Transizione Ecologica” campaign. The initiative focuses on projects driving Italy’s ecological transition through circular economy models.

Montieco Srl manages both hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste, recovering and regenerating approximately 5,400 tons of used mineral oil annually. The facility provides regulatory and operational assistance to 6,000 local companies. By reintegrating 59% of special waste back into production cycles, the plant reduces the need for new raw materials. The facility operates with high efficiency, maintaining an average material residence time of only 30 days, well within the six-month legal limit. To protect groundwater and soil, the 10,000 square meter site utilizes impermeable concrete flooring and specialized collection systems to prevent leaks.
