Legens Festival attracts 230 volunteers in Billund

The inaugural Legens Festival in Billund has successfully recruited approximately 230 volunteers, a result that has surprised organizers. Mathias Vips Jeppesen from the Center for Børnenes Hovedstad, who coordinated much of the effort, noted that finding volunteers has become increasingly difficult following the pandemic, especially since this event did not offer financial compensation to local clubs or associations.

Organizers attributed the high turnout to the flexibility of the roles. Volunteers were able to select specific tasks, such as assisting with setup or managing information desks, and could choose shorter shifts rather than committing to an entire weekend. While many volunteers were from the Billund Municipality, others traveled from outside the area to participate.
