Legion M expands film fund following ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ success
Following the box office performance of ‘Coyote vs. Acme’, fan-backed film company Legion M is expanding its film fund to $5 million. The expansion comes after the film’s allocation sold out in less than 48 hours.
Originally produced by Warner Bros. and intended as an extension of the Looney Tunes property, ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ was shelved in 2023. Following significant online backlash, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film for theatrical release. The movie earned a $15.9 million domestic opening, marking the largest opening for Ketchup Entertainment, and has grossed nearly $58 million worldwide.
Legion M’s model focuses on allowing fans to invest directly in entertainment projects. Since launching its fund in January, the company has deployed more than $2.5 million across its first three releases, including ‘Fackham Hall’ and ‘Nimrods’. CEO Paul Scanlan stated that the company uses its own capital alongside community investment to support films through various stages of release.
