Legislative activity and political tensions rise in Venezuela and Costa Rica

In Venezuela, legislator Nogui Acosta celebrated his 59th birthday during an intensive legislative session. Following a motion he submitted, the Assembly resumed voting on thousands of pending motions related to the 4x3 work schedule bill. This fast-track process has required lawmakers to hold sessions twice daily, temporarily suspending the discussion of other legislative projects.

In Costa Rica, lawyer and officialist movement member Jose Miguel Villalobos issued sharp criticisms against the opposition and the Supreme Court of Justice. Villalobos directed insults at Attorney General Carlo Díaz, labeling him “inept and useless” amidst a budgetary dispute between the government and the Judiciary. The tension follows the Executive branch's request to reduce the Judicial Power's budget by 2.6%, a move Villalobos claims the administration must enforce to avoid being seen as incapable.
