Legislative assemblies in Burundi and DRC adopt September 2026 calendars

Legislative bodies in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have adopted their respective activity calendars for September 2026.

In Burundi, the National Assembly, led by President Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe, established a schedule covering August 31 to September 14. The agenda includes reviewing audit reports for the Office of Public Transport (OTRACO-SP), the essential medicines procurement agency (CAMEBU), and the Rumonge prison. Additionally, deputies will address questions regarding infrastructure and health, and consider a bill to ratify a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and service passport holders signed in Addis Ababa.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the National Assembly opened its September 2026 budgetary session. Rapporteur Jacques Djoli Eseng'Ekeli presented a calendar divided into legislative and non-legislative matters. Non-legislative items include reports from the Court of Auditors and democratic support institutions, as well as parliamentary, budgetary, and power validation controls. The session will also address approximately fifty legislative proposals categorized into four distinct areas.
