Uber expands services and faces new regulations in Argentina

Uber is expanding its presence and regulatory footprint across several Argentine cities. In Venado Tuerto, the Municipal Council has approved an ordinance that incorporates digital platforms into the local transport scheme, establishing free competition for taxi and remise rates. This includes the creation of a monthly Reference Tariff Index to provide transparency for users.

In Puerto Madryn, new regulations require drivers to hold professional licenses, provide criminal record certificates, and use vehicles no older than 10 years. Drivers will also need to display a QR code for identification. Existing drivers have 180 days to comply with these new standards.

Additionally, Uber has officially launched its services in 9 de Julio, offering both passenger rides and Uber Envíos for deliveries. This expansion coincides with the company’s tenth anniversary in Argentina, where it currently operates in more than 60 cities.
