Legislators in Querétaro and San Luis Potosí reject unjustified tax hikes for 2027

Legislators in the Mexican states of Querétaro and San Luis Potosí have announced intentions to block unjustified tax increases in the 2027 fiscal year budgets.

In Querétaro, PAN Deputy Gerardo Ángeles stated that the State Congress will not approve increases to municipal property value tables that lack technical support. He noted that the Commission on Planning and Budget will review proposals from various municipalities, including Querétaro, Corregidora, and Colón, to ensure fiscal decisions align with the economic realities of the population.

In San Luis Potosí, Deputy Héctor Serrano Cortés, secretary of the Political Coordination Board, confirmed that the State Congress does not intend to create new taxes or implement extraordinary increases. Serrano noted that while adjustments may occur naturally due to inflation, political forces including the Green Party (PVEM) and the Labor Party (PT) are committed to preventing measures that would negatively impact citizens' finances. No official municipal revenue law proposals have been received as the submission deadlines approach next month.
