Legnano election race heats up as opposition probes PNRR‑funded pool and minister backs admin reforms

The regional branch of the Lega has urged Legnano’s municipal administration to provide detailed updates on the construction of the new community swimming pool, a project financed with €2.5 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The party complains that the municipal website and the Lombardy PNRR monitoring portal give no clear timeline, raising fears of possible delays and a loss of the EU funding.

The demand comes only days before the municipal elections, with the Lega accusing the incumbent mayor of using the project as political propaganda while withholding information that citizens have a right to know.

On the same day, Public Administration Minister Paolo Zangrillo visited Legnano and met with local Forza Italia leaders, urging a “uniti e coesi” centre‑right campaign. He outlined government efforts to overhaul public administration, increase digitalisation, extend training hours and accelerate contract renewals for local entities, saying “Noi uniti e coesi, da sinistra solo critiche e litigi”.

Zangrillo’s appearance underscores the broader political contest in Legnano, linking national reform promises with local scrutiny of PNRR spending.
