Legnano volunteers collect 600 kg of waste from Olona River
Volunteers collected over 600 kilograms of waste from the Olona River near the Castello area in Legnano during the third edition of the “Puliamo il fiume Olona” ecological day. Approximately 30 volunteers participated in the initiative, which was organized by environmental associations WWF Insubria, Legambiente, and Plastic Free, with support from the Municipality of Legnano.
Organizers noted a concerning increase in abandoned special waste, specifically construction materials such as plasterboard and rock wool, compared to the previous year. However, there was a recorded decrease in abandoned urban waste, which organizers attribute to ongoing awareness campaigns. During the cleanup, a gas cylinder was discovered in the vegetation; local police were called to secure the object to prevent potential fire or explosion hazards.
