Lehel Fazakas wins Filmgalopp grand prize at Filmtettfeszt

Lehel Fazakas has won the grand prize at the Filmgalopp competition for Transylvanian Hungarian short films. His 17-minute short film, ‘A menekülés lehetőségei’ (The Possibilities of Escape), was recognized by the professional jury for its bold experimentation with dramaturgy, visual solutions, dialogue, and editing. The story, which explores the complications following the accidental hitting of a deer, was noted for its unexpected cinematic language and absurd storytelling.

Other awards at the 26th Filmtettfeszt Erdélyi Magyar Filmszemle included the Audience Award and the NMHH special prize, both awarded to the animated film ‘Zoltáni Barna Ottó’. The animation follows a runaway cat dealing with childhood trauma and emotional helplessness.
