Leicester City overhauls squad and finances under new coach Russell Martin

Leicester City is rebuilding after relegation to League One, appointing former Southampton manager Russell Martin as head coach. The club has cut its wage bill by releasing several high‑earners, including former England midfielder Harry Winks, captain Ricardo Pereira, Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka, Jamaal Lascelles and Jannik Vestergaard, and by parting with Boubakary Soumare. A £10 million sale of youngster Jeremy Monga to Manchester City added further stability. New free‑agent signings Conor Chaplin and goalkeeper Alex McCarthy have arrived as Leicester seeks bargain deals. The Foxes have also drawn interest from Canadian international striker Aribam Pepple, with reports linking the player to a possible move.

The extensive roster changes aim to lower the club's wage bill, which previously exceeded half of its total expenses, and to position Leicester for a swift return to higher divisions.
