Leiden introduces social safety reporting pilot

The Municipality of Leiden is launching a pilot program to enhance social safety during the Leidens Ontzet festivities on October 2 and 3. The initiative allows visitors to report unpleasant incidents or inappropriate behavior through QR codes placed at high-traffic locations, such as stages, restrooms, and first aid stations.

Reports can be made anonymously. If a report indicates a need for support, a confidential advisor will contact the individual to provide assistance, listen to their concerns, and offer referrals to appropriate services. The municipality is collaborating with the Centrum Seksueel Geweld and Slachtofferhulp for this initiative. Following the event, the municipality, police, and partner organizations will evaluate the pilot's effectiveness.
