Leigh Leopards defeat St Helens to secure play-off spot

Leigh Leopards secured their Super League play-off spot with a 48-10 victory over St Helens, a result that officially ended St Helens’ hopes of participating in this year's play-off series.

Leigh's performance was highlighted by Adam Cook, who scored a try and converted eight attempts. During the match, Cook also signaled his intent to remain with the club next season by displaying a clipboard marked ‘new contract’. While St Helens managed two tries through Jacob Douglas and Tristan Sailor, the depleted side struggled against the Leopards' dominance.

St Helens interim boss Eamon O’Carroll noted that the team was playing with a largely reserve-grade squad due to 17 unavailable players. Despite the heavy defeat, O’Carroll stated the young players should be proud of maintaining certain team traits. Kevin Walters is set to succeed O’Carroll as head coach following the World Cup.
