Leigh Town Hall featured in new BBC legal drama

Leigh Town Hall has been featured as the headquarters for a fictional law firm in the new BBC legal drama, ‘The Split Up’. The six-part series, which premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, is set in the family law sector of Manchester and stars Ritu Arya and Sanjeev Bhaskar.

The production was supported by the Wigan Council Film Fund, marking the largest project supported by the fund since its launch. According to Councillor Keith Cunliffe, deputy leader of Wigan Council, 100 per cent of the location fees from the drama are being reinvested into the Leigh community. The project has also provided work experience, training, and paid placements for more than 20 local young people in the film and screen sector.

In addition to Leigh Town Hall, filming took place at various locations across Manchester, including the Northern Quarter, Castlefield, and Spinningfields.
