Leighton Brown, NYCHA worker known as ‘Mr. Fix-it,’ killed in Brooklyn storm

Leighton Brown, a 56-year-old NYCHA maintenance worker known as ‘Mr. Fix-it,’ was killed by a falling tree during a nor’easter in Brooklyn. Brown was working overtime to assist tenants at the Cypress Hills Houses when the incident occurred.

Residents expressed deep grief, noting that Brown had served the community for over a decade and was known for his willingness to help even during his lunch breaks. One tenant reported that Brown had recently shared news of an upcoming promotion and transfer, which was set to take effect the following week.

Local residents identified Brown by his distinctive knee-high brown rain boots, which were visible as emergency responders transported him from the scene.
