Leihitu Police Chief Iptu La Ode Muhammad Yusdim has been placed in special detention after testing positive for methamphetamine (sabu). The 20-day detention period began on August 11, 2026, following an official case review.

In addition to ethical violations, the Maluku Regional Police Bidpropam is coordinating with the Narcotics Directorate to pursue criminal charges. Kombes Pol. Jarot Sungkowo, Head of Bidpropam Polda Maluku, stated that the action demonstrates the force's commitment to discipline and that there is zero tolerance for narcotics abuse among officers.
