Leimen and Budenheim hold forest nature walks for schoolchildren

The city of Leimen organized a second‑day nature walk on July 31, 2026 as part of its holiday program. The event, arranged by local council members Stefanie Fischer and Christine Schilling with councilor Mathias Kurz, took twelve children aged 6‑12 on a two‑hour trek through the Leimener Wald to Anita Kühner’s farm in Ochsenbach, where they learned about local wildlife and crafted dreamcatchers from forest materials.

In Budenheim, the Volkshochschule hosted a guided walk on August 21, 2026 through the Lennebergwald. Led by forester Stefan Dorschel, participants started at the playground on Gonsenheimer Straße, walked to the Lennebergturm, and discussed climate‑change adaptation research and forest‑management practices. The outing concluded with a brief picnic and a view over Budenheim, Mainz and the Rheingau.
