Leinster defeat Cardiff 29-5 at redeveloped Laya Arena

Leinster secured a 29-5 bonus-point victory against Cardiff in the United Rugby Championship, marking a successful homecoming at the newly redeveloped Laya Arena in Dublin. The win follows two consecutive losses for the defending champions during their recent trip to South Africa.

Leinster established a dominant lead in the first half with tries from Hugo Keenan, Jimmy O’Brien (two), and Jack Conan. Sam Prendergast was noted for his standout performance, particularly his running game and linebreaks. Jamie Osborne added a fifth try late in the second half to seal the win before a sold-out crowd of over 20,000.

Cardiff’s lone try came from Mason Grady following a cross-field kick by Callum Sheedy. Despite a period of improved possession and territory in the second half, Cardiff was unable to breach the Leinster defense or secure a match point. Cardiff head coach Van Zyl noted the team fought back late but acknowledged the difficulty of playing against a high-quality side.
