Leinster secures dominant Champions Cup victory over Clermont

Leinster achieved a 48–23 bonus-point victory against Clermont at Stade Marcel-Michelin during the opening weekend of the Champions Cup. The Irish province secured the win through a seven-try performance, featuring scores from Dan Sheehan, Tadhg Furlong, Sam Prendergast, Jack Conan, and Tommy O’Brien, alongside a penalty try resulting from scrum dominance.

Andrew Porter was a standout performer, leading a scrum that placed sustained pressure on the Clermont pack. His performance earned him a standing ovation from the home supporters when he was substituted in the 71st minute. Sam Prendergast also contributed a notable 90-metre try involving Jimmy O’Brien following a Clermont error.

Leinster's forward dominance was highlighted by the scrum, which eventually forced a penalty try and contributed to a yellow card for Clermont's Nohem Ez Zahouany. The team now prepares for a United Rugby Championship match against Munster.
