Leioa defeats Atlético Albacete 1-0 in first leg of Segunda RFEF promotion playoff

Leioa secured a 1‑0 victory over Atlético Albacete in the first leg of the promotion playoff to Segunda RFEF, played in Sarriena under sweltering heat. The only goal came in the 26th minute when Ander Blanco headed a corner from De Eguino past the Albacete goalkeeper.

Atlético Albacete coach Ricar Fajardo lamented the defeat, criticising a missed penalty call on Fran Parra and the limited stoppage time awarded. He emphasized the team’s belief that the tie could be reversed in the second leg at the Carlos Belmonte, stressing the need for more energy, speed and aggression.

The match featured several yellow cards and a low attendance of about 1,000 spectators. Both sides displayed solid defensive organization, but Leioa’s disciplined play and decisive set‑piece finish proved decisive in the opening encounter.
