Leipzig Airport drone attack investigation seeks suspect

German authorities are searching for a suspect in connection with an alleged attempted attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport. In early August, airport staff discovered a drone equipped with an explosive device on the south runway, located near Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft.

The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has released an AI-generated manhunt image of a person wearing a hood and unusually warm clothing for summer, riding an e-bike. Investigators believe this individual may be linked to the incident. While the BKA has already identified two suspects, they are seeking information regarding this third person.

Police have located a suspected drone launch site on the path between Rabutz and Beuditz, and have also discovered additional suspected means of the crime near an industrial area between Radefeld and Lützschena.
