Leipzig Airport drone incident involves explosives

An airport bus driver at Leipzig/Halle Airport reportedly prevented a potential attack by kicking a low-flying drone to the ground. The drone was found to be equipped with Semtex, a high-powered plastic explosive, and a detonator.

The incident occurred near Antonov Airlines cargo planes. German authorities are investigating the matter, as the airport serves as a critical NATO logistics hub for the Strategic Airlift International Solution (SALIS) program, which transports equipment to NATO's eastern flank and supports Ukraine.

While some politicians have praised the driver's bravery, others, including Saxony's Interior Minister Armin Schuster, have advised against such individual interventions, suggesting that authorities should be notified immediately instead.
