In response, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced plans to expand the Federal Police's anti-drone unit from 150 to 300 personnel and increase the number of operational bases from four to eight.

Additionally, investigators have reportedly secured a DNA trace on the drone that matches a profile from a 2024 arson attack on the airport’s DHL hub, which was previously linked to Lithuania. The Federal Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation into the attempted explosion and dangerous interference with air traffic. The incident has sparked political debate regarding whether the Bundeswehr should be granted expanded authority for domestic drone defense.
