Leipzig authorities conduct large-scale operation against illegal employment and clan crime
On November 2, 2026, approximately 200 law enforcement officers conducted a coordinated operation in Leipzig, Germany, targeting illegal employment and structures linked to clan criminality. The operation, led by the Dresden Main Customs Office's Financial Control of Undeclared Work, focused on twelve locations, primarily in eastern Leipzig, including bars, shisha bars, and retail businesses.
Participating agencies included the Saxony State Criminal Police Office, Federal Police, tax investigators, the Leipzig Police Directorate, and the municipal regulatory service. The inspections resulted in the identification of various criminal and regulatory violations. These included seven cases involving narcotics or cannabis laws, eight violations of immigration regulations, and three violations of the Weapons Act.
Authorities also seized six kilograms of untaxed hookah tobacco and discovered significant quantities of narcotics in a commercial property on Eisenbahnstrasse. Investigators identified further suspicions regarding fraud, embezzlement of wages, and reporting violations, which will undergo subsequent examination.
